What is a Landing Page? A landing page can be defined in several ways. For our purpose we will use a somewhat broad definition. In Internet marketing a landing page refers to the specific page which is delivered to a potential customer when they click on an advertisement or a search engine result link.  The landing page normally displays content relevant to the advertisement from which the visitor came. Most landing pages are highly optimized with niche specific keywords.

What’s the purpose of a landing page?

Landing pages serve many purposes. Here a few of the ways in which Internet marketers utilize landing pages.

1. They are used in direct niche based marketing strategies. As I mentioned earlier, driving traffic to specific product pages can be extremely beneficial and increase your advertising ROI. There are basically two steps involved here. Say for instance you have article submission software for sale. First you want to create a landing page which discusses your product in detail and offers a clear option to purchase the product. Clearly displaying your product descriptions is what consumers want. They don’t want to search through pages of information in order to locate the  information they are looking for.  The second step would be to advertise your product landing page using ad service (ie Google AdWords). Your advertisement should provide potential visitors with a clear understanding of what your product/service offers (ie article submission software). The last thing I will mention here is keyword research. When you select keywords for your advertising campaign make sure they really fit into your niche.

2. Landing pages can be used to capture customer leads and product feedback. Lead capture pages are extremely important. Many Internet marketing systems utilize landing pages for collecting potential customer feedback or information. This enables the company to improve upon their current marketing strategies and provide customer specific responses.

3. Newsletter registration is another way Internet marketers utilize landing pages! The a affiliate marketing sector often times use landing pages with popup newsletter registration options (where allowed by ad networks ie AdWords). This helps increase opt-in list members. Opt-in lists enable you to directly market to consumers via email!

Most successful Internet marketers utilize at least one of the above mentioned landing page strategies!
