Keyword Research

Most good Internet marketers do there fair share of keyword research and those that don’t are missing out on an excellent opportunity. Keyword research, performed correctly, can increase visits, sales, email subscribers and overall income. Here are some ideas that may help your keyword research system.

Keyword Searches: Perform keyword searches using keyword tools like Google’s Keyword Tool. Keyword tools can provide you with valuable keyword and key phrase information like search popularity and keyword demand.

Keyword Generator
: There are plenty of keyword generators on the market today. Choosing the right one can be difficult. I suggest using the free Google AdWords Keyword Tool first. Once you have a general idea regarding what you want out of a keyword generator, you can then search for a tool that suits your needs. Most of my keyword research is performed using free Google tools.

Top Keywords: selecting the most popular keywords or top keywords may not always benefit your site. If you are an advertiser you undoubtedly have an advertising budget in place. Choosing popular keywords and keyword phrases usually means higher PPC which can take a huge chunk out of your budget. Sometimes, choosing less popular keywords, as long as they apply to your site, is much more cost effective.

Niche Keywords: Finding and selecting valuable niche specific keywords should be the main focus of your keyword research. The most effective way to increase your sites visibility and possibly sales and click-through rates is to take advantage of niche specific keywords. Driving traffic to your site is one thing, but driving targeted traffic to your site should be your main focus.

High Paying Keywords: If you are website publisher looking to increase your PPC revenue and you aren’t performing keyword value research you are losing out on potential revenue. Before you create your next blog post or website page, you should test out Google’s free keyword tool.

Keyword List Management: Managing your keywords should be an important part of your internet marketing strategy. Keyword selections may not always remain popular. You must keep your keyword list up to date and perform keyword searches and select for key phrases that will benefit your site on a at least a monthly basis.

Top 100 keywords: Try to create a list of 100 keywords that may be beneficial to your marketing campaign. Having a solid keyword list on hand is a great place to start. Try centering articles and informational web pages around these keywords and you may be pleasantly surprised with the increase in search engine traffic.

Pay Per Click Keywords: Pay per click keyword research benefits both publishers and advertisers. Publishers can use high value PPC keywords to increase site revenue. Advertisers can get a better idea of keyword bidding competition through PPC value research.

Keyword Placement: Keyword placement carries a few meanings, but normally refers to advertiser keyword rankings. When using PPC programs like AdWords and Overture, you will get a clear idea about where your keyword advertisements will be placed (ie ranked). This can be the difference in hundreds of visits versus thousands of visits.
